Do you think it's possible to unify the world?

First i'm not a hippie (lol) but over the past few months I've been studying different religions, political, and social opinions. I personally think there is a way, but its going to take REAL change and understanding. How do you think unity can be attained, if you even believe it can be; If you think its impossible to come together, why?
