Removing a tight nut on a battery terminal?

Are you refering to the nut on the part that connects to thebattery or where it connects to the cable? If at the battery-you said it was loose so just lift it off. If at the cable -cut it off with cable cutters as close to the terminal as possible. Do not use laquer thinner! If it leakes into the battery plan on buying a new one.
